On-Site Programs for Individuals
and Small Groups |
SLA designs language programs for individuals seeking one-on-one instruction
and for small groups of two to four people. Custom Language Programs
are tailored to the specifications of each student or group and are
held at SLA's facility in Fremont (between the hours of 9:00 am and
9:00 pm Monday through Thursday and between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm on Fridays).
Rates and policies for on-site lessons (lessons held at SLA) are given
below; off-site program rates are also available.
On-site rates and policies:

- Custom Language Programs require prepayment for a minimum of 5
hours for one student and a minimum of 10 hours for groups of two
or more students
- New programs are subject to a $75 set-up fee; the set-up fee is
either refunded or applied to future lessons once students have
completed ten hours of instruction. Students who complete fewer
than 10 hours of instruction forfeit the set-up fee.
- On-site programs (at SLA) are scheduled between the hours of 9:00
am and 9:00 pm Monday through Thursday and between 9:00 am and 4:00
pm on Fridays; upon request weekend hours are available. Depending
on classroom availability, on-site programs can sometimes be scheduled
in the evening (after 6:00 pm)
- Lessons can be scheduled week to week; for cancelled lessons,
SLA requires a 24-hour notice. Students who cancel a lesson with
less than 24-hours notice are charged for the full lesson
- Prices quoted above do not include materials; the cost of materials
varies from program to program depending on the number of participants
and the learning objectives of the individual or group.
On-site language packages
For more favorable rates, students may choose from a variety of standard
language packages – from 20-hour to 90-hour programs. Standard packages
require that students pay for the program in advance and determine a
regular weekly meeting time for the duration of the program. A maximum
of one cancellation per 10 lessons is allowed.

SLA instructors
SLA's instructors have extensive teaching
experience and bring both linguistic and cultural expertise to the classroom.
Currently, 95% are native speakers and all hold graduate degrees in the languages
they teach or have completed post-graduate coursework relevant to the teaching
of foreign languages.
