LATIN LATINA

Choose from a variety of day and evening classes in Latin, from beginning through advanced levels. Accelerated and Intensive classes are available in Summer Quarter. Classes are composed of motivated adult learners, with a minimum of five, a maximum of 15 and an average of eight students per class.

Experienced and academically qualified instructors work to maintain a relaxed yet rigorous learning environment suited to the needs of the adult learner. Because Latin is no longer spoken, the primary goal of instruction is to develop the student's proficiency in reading. Students are introduced to the building-blocks of the language: the system of grammatical cases in the noun system; the tenses and moods of the verbal system; and the basic vocabulary. Insofar as possible, authentic Latin material is used to supplement the exercises in the textbooks.
