Current Openings

SLA currently seeks instructors to teach both standard classes (three
hours per week in two 90-minute meetings) and/or custom language programs.
Classes are held at our facility and private lessons can be either
at our facility or another location, depending upon the student’s

During periods when there are no open positions that match your skills,
individuals are welcome to send their resume to SLA for potential

Foreign & Custom Language Program
Seattle Language Academy hires instructors to teach both in its Foreign
Language Program and its Custom Language Program and always welcomes
resumes from qualified and experienced language teachers. Minimum qualifications
include:
• Native or near-native proficiency in the language
• Master’s degree in Linguistics or field relevant to second language
acquisition and teaching methodology
• Training in communicative teaching methods
• Demonstrable experience teaching language to adults in classroom
setting
• Ability to adapt existing materials to the demands of SLA’s curriculum
• Ability to lesson-plan independently and to create original teaching
materials in line with the learning objectives of SLA’s language programs

English Language Program 
Seattle Language Academy’s English Language Program hires qualified
instructors to teach standard immersion classes and customized programs
for individuals and groups. Minimum qualifications for teaching English
at SLA include:
• Native proficiency in English
• Master’s degree in ESL, linguistics or related field
• Proficiency in a second language
• Experience living abroad
• Demonstrable experience teaching English in a classroom setting

English Instructor for Private Academy in South Korea
Seattle Language Academy is happy to announce that it has begun working
closely with a newly created, private English Academy in Ulsan, South
Korea. SLA has arranged for two recent STESL graduates to work at the
Academy; one will be there throughout 2008. The Academy in Ulsan is
currently in need of an additional instructor to begin working as soon
as possible. Newly arriving teachers will have on-going support from
SLA as well as STESL alums.
Instructors teach elementary and middle school students approximately
30 hours per week and must be native English speakers. Classes run Monday
through Friday from 2:00 - 9:30pm. During Public School vacation in
January and August, the Academy may run classes during the day. It is
an independently owned franchise institution. The curriculum is provided
and lesson plans are created by teachers.
The details are as follows: • A one year commitment is required,
starting as soon as May, 2008.
• Bachelor's Degree and TESOL Certification are required.
• A furnished, single occupancy apartment is provided.
• One meal during school hours is provided.
• Two weeks of vacation & approximately 15 national holidays are
included.
• Severance pay equaling one month and return flight are paid upon
completion of contract.
• Current and previous positions held by recent STESL Graduates.
• Candidates will be interviewed by faculty at Seattle Language Academy.
